SYNOPSIS: Syllabus I is the first in a series of five study programs on the fundamentals of the divine system of reference. This class focuses on the 7 synonyms for God: Mind, Spirit, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, Love (see S&H 465:10). The 7 synonyms for God are the basis for a new spiritual language—the language of Spirit, God. We need to culture a new structure of consciousness—a divine consciousness—to "speak" this language of Spirit, and to understand the deep-structure language of the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. This program, used in conjunction with References in the booklets Compendium for the Study of Christian Science, provides the most in-depth study of the 7 synonyms.
CONTENTS:
In this class, we learn how the specific ideas (qualities) that characterize each of the 7 synonyms are derived from Science and Health, and how, for example, the ideas of Mind intra-relate and create the great "tone" of Mind. The same is true of Spirit, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, and Love. The goal of this class is to culture our consciousness in the "tonality" of each of the 7 synonyms. This is done by the method of:
Concept-building: defining the meaning of the ideas of each synonym. This is achieved by analyzing the text of Science and Health.
Tonality-building: pondering the ideas of each synonym to gain the whole "tone" of the synonym itself.
Consciousness-building: the "tone" of the synonyms become the structure of our divine consciousness.
Being-building: because consciousness determines our life-experiences, our consciousness of the 7 synonyms for God become our own being.
